Looking for kid’s activities in Las Vegas that doesn’t break the bank and is either free or cheap? Finding things to do with kids on a shoestring budget can be hard, but it shouldn’t have to be! And even if you’re not on a budget, per se, it’s nice to find affordable things to do with kids that aren’t such an investment. That way you can leave guiltfree if your group isn’t feeling it!

We live in Las Vegas and are frequently exploring the city with our kids. Check out the list below for 15 ideas of free and cheap things to do with kids in the Las Vegas area. This list has been compiled mostly based on our firsthand experiences.

Best Free and Cheap Things to Do in Las Vegas with Kids

1. Bellagio Conservatory and Botanical Garden FREE (but may have to pay for parking. If you have a Nevada license you can scan upon leaving the Bellagio parking deck for up to 3 hours of free parking) Bonus of seeing the Conservatory is that you can walk out front to catch a Bellagio fountain show. Shows run every 30 mins from 3pm -7:30pm during the week and every 15 mins from 8pm-12am. Same on weekends, except it starts at 12pm instead of 3pm.
2. Springs Preserve $18.95 for adults, $10.95 for children, and 2 yrs and under are free. (Even more reasonable if you get a membership and put this one in your rotation). This can be an all-day activity. There are museums, multiple exhibits, botanical garden, playgrounds, splash pad, and café all on site.
3. Watch the Knights Hockey team practice FREE at City Arena
4. Ice Skate where the Knights practice Ice skate during open skate times City Arena; $10 per guest and $3 skate rental. Added perk is that there is a restaurant at the top of the rink that you could pair this activity with lunch or a snack afterwards. There is some seating that looks out over the rink. It’s fun for the kids to watch.
5. Go for a hike! Head to Kyle Canyon or Lee Canyon to get out of the heat or check out Calico Basin or the Historic Railroad Trail in Boulder City. FREE
6. Get cheap tickets to an Aviator’s Game Look for inexpensive tickets and check out a game. We’re of the opinion that there isn’t a bad seat in the house. There is a splash pad on site that could be a reprieve in the hotter months.
7. Check out McKee Ranch Foundation Feed and see some animals. There are small farm rides for young kids. FREE, but they would appreciate a donation.
8. Spring Mountain Ranch Hike and see the historic site. It is $10 for Nevada vehicles, $15 for visitors.
9. Gilcrease Orchard Check out the Orchard for or u-pick or seasonal activities. It is FREE for u-pick, but seasonal may have small entry fee. Check website. Aside from the u-pcik opportunities, our favorite seasonal activities include hayrides and light displays during Christmas, picking out pumpkins in the Fall, Sunflowers in the late Summer, and picking flowers in the Spring.
10. Container Park Unique playground, restaurants, shopping, etc. FREE.
11. Railroad Museum in Boulder City It is $2 for Museum Display; weekend train rides-$12 Adult Train ride, $6 for children. The Museum could be paired with checking out the Historic Railroad hiking trail, see Boulder City, or checking out the Nature Discovery Trail and Rock Garden in Boulder City.
12. Ice Age Fossils State Park There is a $3 fee. Check out my other page for more details on this State Park here.
13. Check out a cool park and playground like: Aliante Nature Discovery Park, Cougar Creek Park, Trigono Hills Park, Fox Hills Park, Sun Trails Park with bike pump track, Huckleberry Park, or Grand Park. FREE.
14. 7 Magic Mountains See this art display out in the desert. FREE.
15. Corn Creek Visitor Center Check out this unique area and its walking trails. FREE.

Is Las Vegas worth visiting with kids?

I would say absolutely, yes! Also, I would also say there are a lot more opportunities to do kid friendly activities off of the Strip. Now that we live in Las Vegas we hardly ever go down on the Strip. We have found that the real gems are just off the beaten path. I hope the listing above gives you a jump off point to start exploring and in a budget friendly way!

How else can you save money while visiting Las Vegas?

While there are many great restaurant options on the Strip, I would generally avoid those options as they will be more expensive. If you do opt for on the Strip look for Happy Hour deals or take advantage of meal vouchers, etc given at some hotels. I would recommend eating more locally vs on the Strip. There are still close by options that are more reasonably priced than on the Strip. Check out the kid friendly restaurants in the Arts District like Nevada Brew Works, Soulbelly BBQ, Good Pie, or Able Baker.
